Kelly Clarkson’s brother actually didn’t know she was pregnant when she made her big announcement via Twitter on Tuesday, but he’s thrilled her more than 9 million followers got to hear it first.
“It’s a complete surprise to me,” Jason Clarkson told Celebuzz.
“I didn’t even know!” he added, admitting he doesn’t use Twitter quite like his superstar sister or her millions of fans.
But just like Kelly’s picturesque top secret wedding at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tenn. Oct. 20, she was also going to announce this one-of-a-kind of happy news in a style all her own.
“It’s a big deal for her. It’s her first baby. She doesn’t have to tell us or tell me,” he said.
“The way she lives her life she did the right thing. It would have been a circus,” Jason, 40, said of his little sis eloping last month with just her hubby Brandon Blackstock and his two kids in tow. “They wanted to do it the way they wanted to and not the way everyone else wanted them to do it.”
The 31-year-old American Idol winner’s “best early Christmas present ever” is the fourth grandchild in the Clarkson fam, says Jason, and although he and his famous sibling don’t stay in touch “too much” since she jet-sets around the world, it’s that special time of year when their family really comes together.
“She’s started her own life with a new family. But we always keep in contact over the holidays,” said Jason, who simply gushed about the kind of mother Kelly will be.
“She’ll be a fantastic mom,” he added. “She just deserves everything she gets. She has a lot of fans and that didn’t come by accident. She’ll probably be an even better mother than she is a singer. I’m very happy for her. God bless them both.”
