Robin Thicke isn’t holding anything back in a new deposition, revealing his past Vicodin and alcohol routine.
There’s been a legal battle going on between Thicke and Marvin Gaye‘s family, who continue to claim that “Blurred Lines” is a rip-off of Gaye’s song, “Got to Give it Up.” Now, it’s being reported that in a deposition, Thicke told the family’s lawyer that he didn’t write the song. Thicke revealed he was “high on Vicodin and alcohol” when he came to the studio to record and that Pharrell really created the song!
During the deposition, Thicke talked about Pharrell’s involvement with the song saying, “The reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song.”
That statement contradicts what Thicke said to GQ about the song in 2013. Thicke told the magazine, “Pharrell and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favorite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got to Give it Up.’ I was like, ‘Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.’”
In the deposition, Thicke explains, “With all due respect, I was high and drunk every time I did an interview last year. Every day, I woke up, I would take a Vicodin to start the day and then I would fill up a water bottle with vodka and drink it before and during my interviews.” Yikes! He even admits, “I was jealous and I wanted some of the credit … I tried to take credit for it later because [Williams] wrote the whole thing pretty much by himself and I was envious of that.”
Thicke also references his estranged wife Paula Patton in the deposition. Thicke says, “I’ve been sober for the last 2 months. When your wife leaves you, it gives you good reason to sober up.” Later on in the deposition, Thicke reveals he’s still drinking, so he’s sober-ish?
