Robin Williams tragically took his own life four months ago in what has become the biggest death of 2014, and his family (as expected) is still struggling to cope with the incredibly difficult loss.
Williams’ son Zak Williams, 31, opened up about how is father is still ever-present in his day-to-day life.
“I miss him all the time,” Zak reveals to People magazine. “Often I see something or if I’m watching a film, I think, ‘Oh, man, he would have appreciated this’ or ‘He would have gotten a laugh out of this.’”
For Zak and his siblings–Zelda, 25 and Cody, 23–dealing with their father’s death is a step-by-step process.
“There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t think about our dad. The key thing is just to take things a step at a time. I know it sounds a little clichéd, but really focusing on what’s in front of you, focusing on your well-being and then trying to fill our hearts so we can be there for others is really important.”
Of course Zak is amidst the millions who are still mourning the loss of such a legendary human being, and many of his co-stars still speak out about the late actor’s impact on their lives.
“He was an amazing performer—an icon before I met him, then a friend,” Williams’ Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb co-star Ricky Gervais adds. “I haven’t met anyone who has a bad word to say about him. He was just a lovely, generous, sweet man.”
