Everybody, Backstreet’s Back!
So stop what you’re doing and watch this first trailer for the Backstreet Boys documentary now! For one, because it’s not as bad as you think it will be. For another, because reliving the 90′s for even just a minute through a documentary will never be as bad as actually reliving the 90′s… (eek, all of those bad trends!).
Brian Littrell‘s sweet quote from the trailer just about sums it up: “What do you when you’re a full-grown man in a boy band?”.
Apparently that means getting the group back together. The “Larger than Life” men of the boy band celebrated 20 years (omg!) in 2013 by releasing an album In a World Like This.
Now, nearly 2 years later, the Boys/men are releasing a comprehensive documentary following their journey of making the album, being men in a boy band, and reminiscing back in time to when they were at their peak (aka the pre-social media era, when teen girls went crazy over them).
“From 1992 to 2002 we were the biggest band in the world. No one thought it was going to be as big as it was, then it just stopped.” Brian explained at the trailer’s intro.
Indeed, if you’re of a certain generational bracket, BSB were the hottest boys on the block; they could dance, sing, and even make our hearts melt despite their questionable hairstyles and matching get-ups.
The Backstreet Boys sold over 130 million records, making them the best-selling boy band in history.
And for the record, they had a song entitled “As Long as You Love Me” before current reigning pop heartthrob Justin Bieber did.
Entitled Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, the movie is set to be released in theaters and on iTunes January 30, 2015.
If this trailer is any indication of how not bad this documentary will be, then we’re pretty excited to see our favorite 90′s boys’ let out their tears, sweat and bittersweet drama (with plenty of flashbacks, too).
