Tracy Morgan remains in critical condition after enduring a six-car accident early Saturday morning.
The actor and comedian’s press representative confirmed the news to Celebuzz in a statement, saying:
“Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.”
Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police confirmed with the Associated Press that the accident occurred around 1 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike. Morgan was traveling with six others in a limo bus that overturned in a collision.
“The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned,” Williams said. “Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that’s preliminary at this time.”
In addition to the limo bus, the AP reports that two tractor-trailers, an SUV and two cars were also involved in the accident. A spokesman for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital confirmed that four patients are being treated there — three are in critical condition and one is in fair condition.
Authorities confirmed that one man, comedian James ‘Jimmy Mack’ McNair died in the crash. Comedians Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua were reportedly also passengers in the limo bus.
Morgan, 45, who rose to fame starring on both 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, performed at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Del., on Friday night.
