Walmart Truck Driver Charged in Tracy Morgan Accident

As the dust settles on the horrific accident that claimed the life of one and left several others critically injured, the alleged at-fault driver has already been charged with death by auto.

According to several reports, 35-year-old Kevin Roper was driving the 18-wheeler that rear-ended the limo bus Tracy Morgan, Ardie Fuqua and Jimmy Mack were riding in on the New Jersey Turnpike.

While Morgan and Fuqua were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated, Mack, aka James McNair, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Saturday evening, the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office had already charged Roper with 1 count of death by auto and 4 counts of assault by auto.

Six vehicles in total were involved in the wreck and prosecutors say the accident is still being investigated.

TMZ is also reporting that Walmart, the company which owns the truck Roper was driving, will take responsibility for the victims if their driver is found to be at fault. Walmart President & CEO Bill Simon apparently told the outlet that the company is working with investigators to figure out what led to the crash.

He also stated, “This is a tragedy and we are profoundly sorry that one of our trucks was involved. We can’t change what happened, but we will do what’s right for the family of the victim and the survivors in the days and weeks ahead.”

Fuqua, Morgan’s opening act who is reportedly still in critical condition as well, shared a photo of Tracy and possibly the inside of the limo bus sometime before the accident early Saturday morning.
