The Mayans were wrong: November 23, 2013 will be the day when civilization collapses.
The international pop sensation that is One Direction has just declared that fateful day to be 1D Day, a special day when the British boy band will celebrate all-things that is themselves with a seven-hour online livestream of their carefree shenanigans.
But as much as Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne deserve a full day to look back upon their three years of success, it’s actually quite unfair to officially dub November 23 as “1D Day.” Sorry Directioners, but you do have competition.
If there is one group of fans who may be more dedicated than a bunch of Twitter-savvy fifth graders, it would be Whovians, who will undoubtedly be kicking up some sort of online frenzy in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who that same day.
And if an overload of One Direction and Doctor Who tweets isn’t enough to bring down the Internet, Miley Cyrus‘ and her legion of Smilers will sure to create a buzz for their twerk-happy idol’s 21st birthday. (Yes, Miley will be allowed to drink legally. Brace yourselves.)
Either way, those who are wishing to survive to see Christmas should be prepared for November 23, the day when three massive fandoms will duke it out for online supremacy. Best dust off that old Y2K backup CD-Rom just in case.
