LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Carrie Underwood won five times, including the top prize for Artist of the Year, to dominate the inaugural American Country Awards held Monday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The 27-year-old singer also won Album of the Year for Play On, Female Single of the Year and Female Music Video of the Year for "Cowboy Casanova," and Touring Artist of the Year.
Lady Antebellum finished just behind Underwood with four victories, taking home three prizes — Single of the Year, Group Single of the Year and Group Music Video of the Year — for their hit song "Need You Know." The band also won Group Artist of the Year.
Newcomer Easton Corbin also had a big night with three wins, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
The awards show was based solely on fan voting, with winners receiving Fender guitars as trophies. It featured performances by Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Steel Magnolia and Josh Turner, among others.
