LOS ANGELES – Selena Gomez is to host the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).
The 19-year-old singer-and-actress will front the ceremony - which takes place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on November 6 - as well as connecting with fans globally by tweeting throughout the event, as well as offering commentary and sharing behind-the-scenes secret via the official website.
Selena said: "I'm so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMAs - it's a dream come true. This is such a huge event that always recognizes the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it's a real honor to be MC at this year's show."
As has previously been announced, Lady Gaga - who bagged five awards at last year's event - leads the nominations with six and is up for Best Female, Best Live Act, Best Pop Act, as well as the Biggest Fans accolade for her dedicated troupe of "little monsters" and both Best Song and Best Video for 'Born This Way'.
Closely following the 25-year-old singer in the nominations is Katy Perry - who will battle it out against Lady Gaga in the Best Female, Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song categories for 'Firework' - and Bruno Mars with four nods apiece.
Adele - the top-selling artist of the year to date - Selena's boyfriend Justin Bieber and rockers Thirty Seconds to Mars are up for three awards each.
The 2011 MTV EMAs will be held at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on November 6 and will air live on MTV from 9pm.
