Sophia Loren has been hitting the red carpet for over 65 years, solidifying herself as the epitome of Hollywood glamour. The 81-year-old proved once again age is just a number when she stepped out in a glamorous long-sleeve, lacy design at the National Arts Awards in N.Y.C. Monday evening.

And while she knows how to rock a floor-skimming gown, she has her PhD in accessorizing. The actress added dazzling diamonds — a multi-layered choker and tiered earrings — to her look, plus a lacy black clutch and tinted diamond-studded glasses.

It’s been a busy year for the screen icon, who recently teamed up with Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and prestige beauty brand, Dolce & Gabbana, to create a limited-edition lipstick shade in honor of her 81st birthday.

The soft red shade, aptly named “Sophia Loren No. 1,” is an ode to her love of lipstick and her many years spent on screen wearing a bold lip. When shooting the ad campaign for the limited-edition shade, the actress offered up some of her best beauty advice to women.
“You must always, from somewhere at the bottom of your heart, firmly believe that your beauty is unique, special, and like nobody else’s. Never forget this, and learn to cultivate this conviction,” she said. “[Secondly] even if you do not have much time for elaborate make up, wear a lipstick and your face will instantly become brighter.”
