NEW YORK — Lynn Redgrave, a member of Britain’s Redgrave acting dynasty, has died after a lengthy breast cancer battle. She was 67.
Regrave’s publicist told the Associated Press that the legendary actress passed away peacefully on Sunday night at her Connecticut home, where she was surrounded by her children – Ben, Pema and Annabel – and close friends.
"Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer," Redgrave’s children said in a statement Monday. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time."
Regrave burst onto the acting scene in the 1960s, earning an Oscar nomination for her title part in Georgy Girl. She earned a second nod years later for her supporting role in the 1998 film Gods and Monsters.
She is survived by six grandchildren, her acting sister Vanessa, and four nieces and nephews.
