HOUSTON, Texas — Federal agents raided the Houston, Texas office of Michael Jackson’s personal doctor on Wednesday, as investigators continue to seek answers in the music icon’s death.
The search conducted at Dr. Conrad Murray’s office included Los Angeles detectives working on the case, along with Drug Enforcement Administration officers and local police.
A spokesperson for Murray’s attorney admitted to CNN that they were “caught off guard” by the raid, but said they were fully cooperating.
“Anything they are asking for, we will give them,” said the spokesman.
Murray was with Jackson when the entertainer fell ill at his home and later died on June 25. He has previously denied any wrongdoing in the singer’s death.
Many have speculated that Jackson’s death was tied to prescription drugs, but officials are still awaiting toxicology reports. Shortly after the King of Pop’s death, investigators removed at least two bags of medication from the Holmby Hills home that he was renting. One of those drugs is believed to be Propofol, an extremely powerful drug also known as Diprivan. The drug is administered intravenously as a general anesthetic used to sedate patients for surgery and is only available to medical personnel. Jackson is believed to have used it in order to sleep.
Several Jackson family members have stated that they believe the “Thriller” singer’s death was not an accident.
“It will all come out. You will be shocked,” LaToya Jackson recently told London’s News of the World about the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death.
“He had needle marks on his neck and on his arms and more about those will emerge in the next few weeks,” she continued. “I cannot discuss that any further as I may jeopardize the investigation. I can, however, say that I have not changed my mind about my feeling that Michael was murdered.”
