HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alec Baldwin is reiterating his plans to find another career in the not too distant future.
"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," the 51-year-old 30 Rock star tells Men's Journal for its December issue. "I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."
The Emmy Award-winning actor said he plans to quit acting when his contract for the NBC show expires in 2012. Earlier this year, he told Playboy magazine that he would walk away after 30 Rock's wrap party.
Baldwin, who will co-host February's Oscar ceremony with Steve Martin, also tells Men's Journal that he is embarrassed by his time on the big screen.
"I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," declares the star of such films as The Hunt for Red October and Glengarry Glen Ross. "The goal of movie-making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."
As for what's next for Baldwin, he has previously hinted that a political career may be on the horizon.
"There's no age limit on running for office, to a degree," he told 60 Minutes last year. "(It is) something I might do one day."
