HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Matt Lauer’s rumored infidelity took a bizarre twist on Friday when he was romantically linked to Alexis Houston, a woman identified as Whitney Houston’s half-sister.
Hollyscoop is claiming that Lauer and Alexis carried on an affair after first meeting on NBC’s Today Show in 2007. The site alleges the pair met when Alexis accompanied Whitney’s real-life relative Dionne Warwick to the morning show.
"They often stayed in the same hotel, but on different floors," a source says of the alleged flings that followed.
The report also claims that Lauer attempted to track down Alexis earlier this year when he covered the Winter Olympics, where she was reportedly scheduled to perform. Her camp has quickly denied the affair rumors.
"The allegations regarding Ms. Houston and Mr. Lauer are false," her rep told TMZ. "If they have met at the Today Show, in the past, that would be the extent of their interaction. However, Ms. Houston has never had any sort of relationship with Mr. Lauer and does not even recall meeting him."
Even more bizarre is Whitney denies being a relative of Alexis.
"Alexis Houston has no relation to Whitney in any way, shape or form," her rep told E! News.
This week’s National Enquirer cover story claims Lauer left his wife, Annette Roque, after 12 years of marriage due to a "cheating scandal." The morning show host denied the allegation Thursday in a statement to People magazine, calling the report "a work of fiction."
"I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple," he said. "I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that."
Lauer and Rogue have three children – Jack, 8, Romy, 6 and Thijs, 2.
