HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alicia Silverstone is speaking out after her Clueless co-star Brittany Murphy died unexpectedly Sunday.
“I’m so saddened to hear this news,” the 33-year-old actress told People of Murphy’s death at age 32. “I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm, and so sweet.”
The sleeper hit launched both stars into fame with Murphy starring as Tai, an ugly-duckling transfer student who gained a mentor in Silverstone’s Cher character. Silverstone said she wasn’t in close contact with Murphy after their breakout 1995 movie, but she felt the pair always maintained a special bond.
“I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together,” she shared. “I feel love in my heart for her – and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad.”
