NEW YORK — Foxy Brown and Lil’ Kim are getting a bum rap from a New York publisher.

Simon & Schuster Inc. filed lawsuits against the rappers on Thursday, alleging they were both paid book advances, yet failed to deliver on their end, the Associated Press reports.

Brown, 29, allegedly received $75,000 in 2005 to pen an autobiography called “Broken Silence,” which was due the following year.

Lil’ Kim, 32, meanwhile, was reportedly given $40,000 to write a novel in 2003. It too was due the ensuing year, the publishing house claims.

Simon & Schuster, which is owned by CBS, is seeking its money back from both stars, AP says.

Each of the rappers has encountered legal problems in recent years, with both having served jail time for their offenses.

While Brown has yet to comment, Lil’ Kim’s attorney, Bernard H. Jackson III, told People magazine: “We are disappointed that Simon & Schuster has made the decision to file this lawsuit. [She] has had every intention to fulfill her obligations under the agreement from day one but there were certain resources that are standard for any book publisher to provide that we felt were not available in order for her to complete the project. Many attempts have been made to resolve this matter privately by Kim and she still looks forward to doing so.”
