HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Britney Spears was released from the psychiatric ward at UCLA’s Medical Center today, the Los Angeles Times is reporting.
Unlike the media circus that surrounded her trip into the Westwood facility in the early morning hours last Thursday, the pop star’s departure went unnoticed. According to the Times, a private security firm was brought in to escort the “Gimme More” singer away.
The Los Angeles Police Department was criticized for the costs associated with the motorcade that led Spears into UCLA. The LAPD said the motorcade was necessary due to the aggressiveness of the paparazzi hot on the heels of the troubled pop star.
Spears is reportedly heading home before seeking additional treatment.
Spears has been hospitalized twice this year, with the first coming in early January following a custody stand-off over her two sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
