HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The heat is still on Miss California Carrie Prejean as rumors swirl that more racy photos of the beauty queen exist.
After a gossip site published a semi-nude photo of her on Monday, Prejean told pageant officials that the racy picture was the only one that existed.
“This was when I was 17 years old,” she wrote in an e-mail obtained by TMZ.com. “I was a minor. It was when I was first getting into the modeling world, being naive, and young. I shouldnt (sic) have taken the photo of me in my underwear. There are no other photos of me. This was the only one I took.”
But TMZ claims the Miss USA runner-up hasn’t exactly being forthcoming. According to them, they received a total of four photos of Prejean in which she is semi-nude and in her panties. The news wasn’t exactly greeted with enthusiasm by Keith Lewis, the Co-Executive Director of Miss California USA.
“I’m absolutely stunned,” said Lewis. “This completely changes things for us. Yesterday we thought she had explained things accurately. We need to revisit this issue with her.”
Prejean, a native of San Diego, was thrust into the public spotlight at the Miss USA pageant last month when she was quizzed by celebrity blogger and gay-rights advocate Perez Hilton.
“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage,” said Hilton. “Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not?”
“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage,” responded Prejean. “And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
Prejean has since capitalized on her newfound fame by campaigning against same-sex marriage, a platform that has been denounced by Miss California USA pageant officials.
