LOS ANGELES — Carrie Underwood is grateful for a holiday special that afforded her the chance to share the stage with Dolly Parton.
"It was a dream come true," Underwood tells People of performing alongside Parton on the former American Idol star's two-hour variety special, airing tonight on Fox. "[It was] such a special moment for me in the show to be able to perform with her."
On the program, Underwood will perform previous hits, holiday classics and songs from her recently released third album, Play On. In addition to Parton, she will be joined on stage by her CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley, fellow Idol alum David Cook, and Kristin Chenoweth.
"It was a lot of fun to tape and I think we ended up with a great show," Underwood told the mag.
As for her own holiday plans, the 26-year-old singer said she was looking forward to heading home to be with her family.
Said Underwood: "My mom always makes a broccoli cheese casserole and potato casserole. I just love food!"
