HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan died Monday in a single-car accident in Los Angeles. He was 50.
The California Highway Patrol said Ryan's 1995 Jeep Wrangler went off the side of Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County and landed on its roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Moments before the crash, Ryan shared the excitement of his day on Twitter.
"After 25 years of driving by, I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune on the pch west of malibu," he wrote. "Much harder than it looks! Whew!"
Ryan later posted a photo of his dog, which reportedly survived the crash.
"Border collie jill surveying the view from atop the sand dune," Ryan said in the caption of his final tweet.
The Beverly Hills-based surgeon had a celebrity clientele that included the likes of Lorenzo Lamas, Vince Neil and Adrianne Curry. He also famously performed 10 plastic surgery procedures on Heidi Montag in a single day last November.
"My first concern is for the safety of the patient, so I would never push the envelope," he told People after Montag's surgeries made headlines. "Heidi's a young, healthy girl; she was cleared medically. It was well within the realm of safety."
