HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Long before he became a movie star, Channing Tatum was well on his way to becoming the object of every female’s attention.
At the age of 18, Tatum was a dancer in a Chippendales-style revue called Male Encounter at a Florida club, Us Weekly reports. Perhaps ahead of his time, the now 29-year-old actor even used the stage name “Chan Crawford” as he danced his nights away in 1999.
“The women went crazy for him!” recalls London Steele, the man behind the production.
While Steele says that he maintained a strict no-nudity policy, it’s worth noting that he could see a star in the making.
“He was shy at first, but he really knew how to work the stage,” he told the mag.
Tatum is currently starring alongside Sienna Miller in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” which opened in theaters last weekend.
