HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — This time, Chelsea Clinton really is getting married.
The former First Daughter is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky, a spokesman for former President Clinton confirmed Monday to ABC News. The spokesman said he believed the couple’s engagement happened “before Thanksgiving,” but they are just now spreading the news.
On Friday, the happy couple sent out an e-mail to friends and family, saying: “We’re sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.”
The engagement news comes after rumors swirled over the summer that the couple was about to tie the knot on Martha’s Vineyard.
Clinton, 29, and Mezvinsky, 31, have been friends since childhood. They went on to attend Stanford University together, however they only started dating in 2005.
Mezvinsky is the son of former Iowa congressman Ed Mezvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy. He currently works as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs.
