Clay AikenHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Clay Aiken is the latest “American Idol” runner-up in search of a new home.

The 30-year-old singer has parted ways with his record label, RCA Records, according to Billboard.

A source told the publication that the split happened a few months after the release of Aiken’s 2008 album, “On My Way Here.”

According to numbers obtained by Billboard from Nielsen SoundScan, “On My Way Here” sold just 159,000 copies in the U.S., compared to his 2003 debut album, “Measure of a Man,” which sold 2.78 million copies.

Aiken’s rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed to People on Friday that the two sides had hit the end of the road.

“We were unable to come to terms in a recent contract negotiation, and decided that it was best to move on,” Berger told the mag.

Aiken, who appeared on the Fox reality show’s second season, joins a growing list of “Idol” runner-ups who have moved on from their major-label deals, including Justin Guarini (season one), Bo Bice (season four), Katharine McPhee (season five) and Blake Lewis (season six).
