ATLANTA — CNN host Rick Sanchez is looking for work after he made headlines Thursday for a controversial satellite radio show interview.
Sanchez appeared on the XM Sirius program Stand-Up with Pete Dominick, where he called The Daily Show‘s John Stewart a "bigot" and suggested that "everybody who runs CNN" was Jewish.
On Friday, CNN stopped short of saying the anchor had been fired over the comments.
"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company," the network said in a statement. "We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well."
Sanchez joined CNN in September 2004.
The network said his 3 to 5 p.m. daily spot will be filled by CNN Newsroom for the "foreseeable future."
