TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Country music star Taylor Swift added another milestone on Friday night when she attended her very first prom.
The 18-year-old star, who recently won the female music video of the year award at the CMT Awards for “Our Song,” attended prom night at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Swift’s night was documented as part of MTV’s “Once Upon A Prom,” which airs June 12.
Whit Wright, 18, was the lucky date of the night, his name drawn from a hat by Swift herself.
“I thought I was going to miss my senior prom because I was on tour,” Swift, who previously attended Hendersonville High in Tennessee, told the Tuscaloosa News. “But it never occurred to me to go to someone else’s prom.”
“He got me a corsage, and we got to hang out on a boat [the Bama Belle] with the other students,” she added. “It’s definitely [been] an amazing substitute for my prom.”
Swift, who wore a beige BCBG full-length gown, wasn’t the only one thankful for the experience.
“It’s amazing, and it’s been the best senior prom I could imagine,” her date said.
