WOBURN, Mass. — Dane Cook’s half brother, Darryl McCauley, has been ordered held on $1 million bail for allegedly stealing millions of dollars from the comedian.
McCauley, 43, pleaded not guilty to eight counts of larceny over $250, forgery and larceny by continuous scheme at Thursday’s hearing in Massachusetts, according to The Associated Press. Prosecutors also disclosed at the arraignment that they plan to bring additional charges against him in the future.
Prosecutors claim that McCauley swiped the dough while working as Cook’s business manager, a role that earned him $12,500 per month.
McCauley denies that the money was taken without Cook’s consent, contending that the pair worked closely together to help build the comic’s career. His attorney, Robert Goldstein, asked that bail be set at $100,000.
A pretrial conference has been scheduled for April 16.
