HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Danica McKellar is stripping down for Maxim's Hot 100 issue, a stark reminder that Winnie Cooper is all grown up.
"I've always been really cautious about guys who have a Winnie Cooper fantasy, and I'm so glad about that," McKellar tells the mag of her childhood role on The Wonder Years. "I mean, I can count on one hand the guys I've been with. It was really challenging, but I never gave it up too soon, if you know what I mean."
McKellar, who is expecting her first child with husband Mike Verta in the fall, went on to graduate summa cum laude from UCLA in 1988. She has since written two books, Math Doesn't Suck and Kiss My Math. Her third tome, Hot X: Algebra Exposed, comes out in August.
"I realized I needed to find out who I was outside of that show," she tells Maxim of the career change. "My whole life people called me Winnie Cooper, and it was important for me to find out what else I had to offer."
So can math be sexy?
"Totally!" McKellar says. "If a guy is skilled at anything, that's attractive. There’s something very primal about that, and, sure, it can be as simple as figuring out the tip quickly."
McKellar says confidence can be a sexy trait in both men and women, pointing out that actress Michelle Pfeiffer is still oozing plenty of it in her 50s.
"My God, she's [52] years old, but she is still so sexy," she gushes. "If I were into women, I would be totally into her."
