LONDON — It’s over for Pushing Daisies star Anna Friel and Harry Potter actor David Thewlis.
The pair, who were rocked by cheating allegations last year, have split after nine years together, the Daily Mail reports.
"Things have not been great for a long time and they have tried to keep this quiet to protect everyone," a friend said of the breakup.
The couple’s relationship became strained last December when Friel was photographed kissing actor Joseph Cross, her co-star in the West End production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Cross later moved into the duo’s Hollywood home in April, but Friel insisted he was just a pal.
"Joseph is a good friend of mine," she explained at the time. "I have no problem with him staying at my house."
Friel, 34, and Thewlis, 47, began dating in 2001 after meeting on a flight to Cannes. They have one child, a 5-year-old daughter named Gracie.
The actress has previously admitted their relationship is unconventional. "He’s 13 years older than me," she said. "We have our own separate properties and we’re not married."
Despite the split, friends tell the U.K. publication there’s still hope the pair will get back together.
"They do care about each other very much, and the most important thing now is that they both continue to be the best parents they can be for Gracie," said the insider. "They will have to see each other over Christmas at some point, but hopefully it will not be too painful."
