HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Debbie Rowe’s attorney is shooting down claims that his client has reached a deal to walk away from seeking custody of her two children with Michael Jackson.
On Wednesday, the New York Post reported that the biological mother of Jackson’s two oldest children — Prince Michael, 12, and Paris Katherine, 11 — had agreed to a $4 million offer to not challenge the King of Pop’s family for custody rights. The two children, along with the entertainer’s third child, Prince Michael II (Blanket), 7, are currently living with their temporary guardian, family matriarch Katherine Jackson.
“There has been no agreement reached between Ms. Rowe and the Jacksons,” said lawyer Eric George.
Jackson received full custody of the three kids after Rowe filed for divorce in 1999. According to published reports, she received an $8.5 million settlement to give up custodial rights after the couple’s split.
Rowe has sent mixed signals ever since the singer’s death on June 25. Shortly after his mother was awarded temporary guardianship in court on July 2, Rowe declared, “I want my children,” during a 90-minute phone conversation with NBCLA’s Chuck Henry.
As he has done previously, George once again echoed that Rowe has yet to decide whether she will seek custody of the children. He also said that his client is not looking for a big payday.
“Ms. Rowe has not accepted — and will not accept — any additional financial consideration beyond the spousal support she and Michael Jackson personally agreed to several years ago,” said George.
