HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ellen Page has signed on to star in the upcoming movie “Peacock.”
Page, who received a best-actress Oscar nomination for her role in “Juno,” will star alongside Irish actor Cillian Murphy in the psychological thriller, set in the small town of Peacock, Neb.
The film, which will be directed by Michael Lander, revolves around a man with a split personality (Murphy) who fools the town into believing that his two alter-egos are man and wife. Page will play a struggling young mom who sparks a battle between the dual personalities.
The 20-year-old Page has become a hot commodity in Hollywood. She will next shoot the comedy “Whip It,” which marks Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut. The Canadian-born actress will then star in the horror film “Drag Me to Hell.”
Page also has the film “Smart People” hitting screens later this year. Her co-stars in the movie included Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church.
The 31-year-old Murphy, meanwhile, reprises his role as Scarecrow in the upcoming Batman sequel “The Dark Knight,” which opens July 18.
