HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — With a non-stop music career added to becoming the newest face of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign, Fergie hardly has a moment to plan her own wedding day.
“I have a big stack of wedding magazines, and I’ve never picked one up before in my life,” the singer tells USA Today.
The 32-year-old “Clumsy” singer became engaged to her longtime boyfriend Josh Duhamel in December. The pair have been dating since 2004, but they have yet to set a wedding date.
“I’ve been touring for a long time, and I want to go home this summer and spend time with my family and get in the studio and just take some time to think about everything,” she added to USA Today.
Fergie, who will perform a duet with John Legend at this weekend’s 50th Annual Grammy Awards, is the newest spokeswoman for the MAC campaign, joining Dita Von Teese and Eve. The cosmetics company began the campaign in 1994 and has raised more than $100 million to date for HIV/AIDS.
“I’ve been a fan of the campaign since the early days, and I remembered when RuPaul did it,” she says. “They pick controversial people who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, and that’s definitely me.”
With an added responsibility to an already-busy career, the Grammy nominee says she’s eager to influence the many teens and young adults who make up her fanbase.
“They’re going toward one demographic, and I think I can be very helpful with that,” Fergie says. “I know certain people who are very proud of having unprotected sex and the fact that they haven’t caught anything yet.”
