HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — People magazine has released the first adult photo of Jaycee Dugard, the California woman rescued in August after being kidnapped 18 years ago while heading to school in South Lake Tahoe.
“I’m so happy to be back with my family,” the now 29-year-old Dugard tells the magazine. “Nothing is more important than the unconditional love and support that I have from them.”
Phillip Garrido, 58, and his wife, Nancy, 54, have been charged with abducting Dugard when she was 11. Authorities say that Garrido repeatedly raped Dugard over the years and fathered her two young daughters. She was discovered living in a tent compound in the backyard of Garrido’s home in Antioch, Calif.
Since her rescue, Dugard has reunited with her family. She is currently living in seclusion with her mother, Terry Probyn, 50, and her two daughters – Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11
“They live a surprisingly normal life, considering the circumstances,” Terry’s stepmother, Joan Curry, told the mag.
