HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — David Yost, who played Blue Ranger Billy Cranston on the popular live-action childrens’ television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has come out of the closet.
In a new interview with the Power Rangers-devoted website No Pink Spandex, the 41-year-old actor reveals he quit the show because he was harassed for being gay.
"I was called faggot one too many times [by the show’s] creators, producers, writers, directors," said Yost, who added, "I know that my costars were called in a couple of times to different producers’ offices and questioned about my sexuality, which is kind of a humiliating experience to find that out."
After his departure from the show, Yost suffered a nervous breakdown and struggled to accept his sexuality. He has since returned to acting and will star later this year in the action film Degenerate.
