HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Four photographers who engaged in a late night car chase of pop star Britney Spears have been arrested for reckless driving, police announced on Thursday.
The four were among a group of paparazzi driving at high speed in the Mission Hills area of Los Angeles around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday in hot pursuit of the troubled singer, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Sara Faden said.
“Britney Spears was part of the group, but was not driving recklessly,” Faden tells Reuters. She said four men were booked for reckless driving and each ordered to put up $5,000 bail.
The 26-year-old Spears, who is currently dating a paparazzi, told police that one of the cars, which she could not identify, may have tried to run her off the road, according to TMZ.
The “Gimme More” singer has been a constant target of the paparazzi, particularly since her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline began.
On Monday, Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled that Spears’ visitation rights would remain suspended, keeping her away from her two children with Federline, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James.
