Jason PriestleyHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jason Priestley is returning to his old West Beverly High stomping grounds, but perhaps not in the manner his fans would prefer.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 39-year-old star will direct an upcoming episode of “90210,” the new CW spinoff of the hit ’90s show that made him a teen heartthrob. Priestley, who starred as Brandon Walsh, is expected to helm this season’s 18th episode, which is scheduled to air in the spring, EW says.

Also expected to return is Shannen Doherty, who has already appeared on several of the show’s first episodes. Gabe Sachs, “90210’s” executive producer, tells the publication that the actress is currently “in talks” for a return, which could be for at least two new episodes.

Jennie Garth, another original series star, is also expected back after several appearances already this season.

Whether Priestley ends up working with Doherty or Garth remains to be seen, but Sachs tells EW that would prove interesting.

“I think it would be a kick for Jason to work with any of his [former 90210 costars], and it would also add something special to that episode,” he says. “But we don’t know whether that will happen yet.”
