HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jennifer Hudson expressed her gratitude Thursday for the outpouring of support that she’s received since her mother, brother and nephew were tragically killed in Chicago.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the 27-year-old Oscar winner wrote on her MySpace Celebrity Blog. “My sister and I take great comfort and strength from your love and concern.”

Hudson’s 57-year-old mother, Darnell Donerson, and her 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson, were found shot to death on Oct. 24 at the family’s Chicago home. Her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, was also shot to death and discovered three days later in a sport utility vehicle.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister, has been questioned by police in connection with the killings, but he has not been charged.

The former “American Idol” star has mostly remained out of the public spotlight since the tragedy occurred by staying at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago.
