The case was dismissed Monday at the request of the Grease star and his wife, actress Kelly Preston.

"The Travolta family has said that this matter has caused them unbelievable stress and pain and they wish to put this whole thing behind them," said prosecutor Neil Braithwaite.

Jett Travolta, the couple’s 16-year-old son, died on Jan. 2, 2009 after suffering a seizure at his family’s vacation home on Grand Bahama island. Paramedic Tarino Lightbourn, one of the first people to arrive on the scene the day of the fatal seizure, and Pleasant Bridgewater, a former Bahamian senator, were accused of demanding money from Travolta in exchange for not publicizing a document involving his son’s treatment. The form in question would have released emergency responders from liability if the family refused an ambulance, a situation that never transpired.

A judge declared a mistrial back in October after a local politician suggested one of the defendants had been acquitted – before the jurors came back with their verdict.

Travolta, 56, and Preston, 47, announced in May that they are expecting another baby. The twosome also has a 10-year-old daughter named Ella Bleu.
