HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jon Gosselin has come out swinging after TLC announced plans to limit his camera time.
The 32-year-old father of eight is attempting to halt production on the popular reality series that turned him into a household name by denying permission to videotape his children.
According to The Insider, Gosselin’s attorney, Mark J. Heller, has fired off two letters to the network’s legal team, one of which reads: “Jon Gosselin unequivocally believes that his children’s continued participation in your client’s television production is ‘detrimental’ to his children. Accordingly, Jon expects that your client will cease and desist from any and all further production which includes his eight children.”
A second letter obtained by the news source argues that Gosselin and his estranged wife Kate are joint owners of the property where TLC films, thus he has the power to halt production.
“Effective immediately, no production crews are to enter Jon’s family home for any reason,” the letter reads. “In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers.”
On Thursday, Gosselin went as far as to post a sign outside his family’s estate in Wernersville, Pa., which read: “Notice: no film crew or production staff from TLC is permitted on this property under penalty of trespass.”
Gosselin’s hard stance comes just days after TLC announced plans to change the title of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” to simply “Kate Plus 8.” An insider says Jon’s actions are the result of the network pulling the plug on his screen time.
“He was completely happy filming the series as recently as a week ago, but now that they’ve tried to limit his role, he is fighting back hard,” says the source.
