HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It took two major stars to outlast teen idol Justin Bieber.
The Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy Just Go With It opened with ticket sales of $31 million to win the weekend box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
The total was just enough to hold off the young star’s documentary, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which premiered in second place at $30.3 million.
Disney’s animated adventure Gnomeo & Juliet also enjoyed a strong debut, finishing third at $25.5 million. The movie features the voices of Emily Blunt and James McAvoy in a twist on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
The Eagle premiered in fourth place at $8.6 million, while last week’s top movie, The Roommate, slipped to No. 5 at $8.4 million.
