Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Inception’ Hangs Onto Box Office Title

The actor’s Inception movie remained the No. 1 movie for the third straight weekend with $27.5 million in sales, according to studio estimates released Sunday.

The Christopher Nolan film held off a strong debut by Dinner for Schmucks, which finished second at $23.3 million.

Angelina Jolie’s spy-thriller Salt slipped to third place with sales of $19.2 million, followed by Despicable Me at $15.5 million.

Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore opened in fifth place at $12.5 million, barely outdistancing Zac Efron’s Charlie St. Cloud ($12.1 million) debut.

1. Inception, $27.5 million.

3. Salt, $19.2 million.

4. Despicable Me, $15.5 million.

9. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, $4.3 million.

10. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, $3.9 million.
