HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor LeVar Burton escaped serious injury Monday after being involved in a five-car accident in West Los Angeles.
According to The Associated Press, the 52-year-old star was driving his 2006 Mercedes on Beverly Boulevard around 7:40 p.m. when a 74-year-old woman turned left in front of him.
After the pair collided, Burton’s vehicle veered into a park car, setting off a chain reaction that resulted in a five-car pileup.
The longtime host of “Reading Rainbow” complained of pain at the scene and was treated at a nearby hospital before being released.
Burton first rose to fame when he starred in the award-winning 1977 television miniseries “Roots.”
