HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lily Allen is going on the defense after topless photos of the British singer started making the rounds recently.
"I don't really like to respond to things I read about myself in the press but, for the record I was not thrown off anybody's yacht in Cannes," the "Smile" singer writes in a MySpace blog. "Occasionally I drink wine with lunch, and yes, I swim topless. This, in my book, is not embarrassing behavior."
"It's not my fault if photographers follow me everywhere and need a story to print with their pointless pictures," she added. "I wish digital cameras hadn't been invented. If these photographers had to pay for film, it wouldn't be worth their time."
Allen is currently hard at work on her second album, a process made more difficult because she's "a bit of a perfectionist."
"I'm so close now, I just really want to get it done so I can tour again," she says of her recent work in the studio.
The singer also talked about a recent outing with her ex-boyfriend, Chemical Brothers musician Ed Simons. The couple split earlier this year, shortly after Allen suffered a miscarriage.
"I went to lunch with my ex boyfriend yesterday, lunch" she writes. "I am not some failed baby making machine desperately trying to win my man back. Sometimes I think these journalists are still living in the 50's. No one knows anything about my relationships. Ed and I are friends, who went for lunch yesterday, that's it."
"Yes I like to drink and yes I have my bad days, but that doesn't mean I'm out of control," she continues. "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself thank you very much."
