HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lindsay Lohan had prison on her mind when she stripped down to a black-and-white striped bikini for a Maxim cover shoot, which took place less than a week before she was sentenced to jail.
"I am feeling strong," the 24-year-old actress tells the men’s magazine for its September issue. "I’ve experienced a lot in my life, and my mom has given me a lot of faith. This too shall pass."
Lohan was discharged early Monday from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., where she served 14 days of a 90-day sentence for violating probation in a 2007 DUI case. She is now required to spend the next three months in rehab, which she is completing at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
So what are the starlet’s hopes for the coming year?
"To focus on myself and my work and to move all press on me to focus on the work I do," she tells the mag. "Also, I’d like to do more work in India and travel to Malawi."
Lohan also shares her advice for others dealing with adversity.
"Stay true to yourself always," she says. "At the end of the day, you have to look at yourself in the mirror and be content with the choices you’ve made, and will make, in your life. Go with your gut!"
