HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lindsay Lohan will consider a plea deal in her grand theft case – if she can avoid jail time, her attorney said Thursday.
"Ms. Lohan maintains her innocence, and now that I’ve seen the police reports, I believe the case is entirely defensible," lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told CNN. "Having said that, we will entertain a discussion concerning a plea if it means no jail so that she can move forward with her recovery and her career."
Lohan, 24, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace. She is accused of stealing the item from a Venice, Calif. jewelry store on Jan. 22.
If convicted, the Mean Girls star faces up to three years in state prison.
Lohan, who is currently on probation for a 2007 DUI conviction, remain free on $40,000 bail. Her next hearing is set for Feb. 23.
