HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Hollywood hunk Matthew McConaughey is going to be a dad for the first time.
McConaughey and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves, are expecting a baby, publicist Alan Nierob confirmed on Tuesday.
The 38-year-old actor first made the announcement on his Web site.
“Got some blessed news … a celebration of life and bounty … a newborn concieved (sic) … yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together,” McConaughey wrote.
Alves, who is three months along, is doing well, the actor says.
“We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father,” he said.
McConaughey goes on to say, “Wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution.”
McConaughey and Alves, 24, have been dating for a little more than a year. He has been one of Hollywood’s most famous bachelors over the years, having dated Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd and Penélope Cruz.
McConaughey, a Texas native, is a well-respected actor with screen credits including “Dazed and Confused,” “A Time to Kill” and more recently, “We Are Marshall.”
The man named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2005 will next appear in the film “Fool’s Gold,” which will be released next month.
