HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mel Gibson will return to the big screen with a cameo in The Hangover 2, a source tells the New York Post.
The troubled star will reportedly play a Bangkok tattooist in the highly anticipated sequel, which is due to hit theaters next May.
The role may be just what the doctor ordered for Gibson, whose career went into a tailspin earlier this year after he was allegedly caught on tape ranting at his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.
Hangover 2 will follow the original gang – Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha – as they journey to Thailand, where they find danger lurking in Bangkok. Ken Jeong is also on board for the sequel.
Gibson’s appearance may be similar to Mike Tyson’s in the original film, in which the controversial boxer rebuilt his image through comedy.
