Robyn Moore signed the divorce papers on Thursday and filed them early Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the couple’s split.
Moore is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the pair’s lone minor child, 9-year-old son Thomas. Gibson and Moore, who married on June 7, 1980, have six other children – Hannah, 28, twins Edward and Christian, 26, William, 24, Louis, 21, and Milo, 19.
Gibson and Moore, both 53, have reportedly been separated for nearly three years.
“Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so,” the couple said in a joint statement.
Gibson and Moore met shortly after the star achieved his first career breakthrough with the film “Mad Max.”
Radar Online reports that Gibson recent enjoyed a romantic getaway to Costa Rica with Russian musician Oksana, a trip that included several family members, but not his soon-to-be ex-wife.
