HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nia Vardalos and her husband, Ian Gomez, have adopted a baby girl, according to E! Online.
“They are going public now to bring attention to National Adoption Month and the 500,000 children in foster care,” Vardalos’ rep said in a statement. “Of these children, 129,000 are ‘legally free’ for adoption and waiting for a family.”
The toddler, whose name was not released, is the first child for the couple.

Vardalos, who shot to fame thanks to the hit film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” has been married to her actor husband since 1993.
