HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are planning a wedding!
The longtime couple is now engaged, reps for both stars confirmed Thursday to Us Weekly.
"We’re excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the happy twosome said in a statement.
Lachey, 36, and Minnillo, 29, began dating in 2006, shortly after the 98 Degrees singer divorced Jessica Simpson after four years of marriage.
Minnillo recently told Parade magazine that she has a healthy relationship with Lachey thanks to an open-door policy.
"You have to talk through everything. It’s all about communication," explained Minnillo, who will be heading to the altar for the first time. "We talk daily about things that upset us. It’s about having a sounding board because if you hold in all your thoughts, dreams, anger and anxiety than you’re only hurting yourself."
"I think that we’ve been fortunate to have that," she added. "I can be like, ‘This upset me and I don’t understand why somebody would say that about me,’ and he gives me great perspective and I can turn around and say the same thing to him. You can’t go through your day and not talk to your partner. Ultimately, the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with is going to be your best friend, so why wouldn’t they know everything about your life?"
