The electrical fire broke out shortly before noon at the star’s home on Bonsall Drive. The fire started in the living room, where Nolte attempted to douse the flames before firefighters arrived shortly after being contacted at 11:34 a.m.

There were some reports that Nolte broke a window to escape when the fire got out of control, but fire officials could not immediately confirm that detail.

Nolte, who is currently starring in the feature film “Tropic Thunder,” has appeared in such movies as “North Dallas Forty,” “48 Hrs.,” “Down and Out in Beverly Hills” and “Cape Fear.”

The Nebraska native said he was thankful for the efforts of the emergency crews who responded.
